Summary
We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to assist in designing, developing, and maintaining data systems that support the Board's mission. This entry-level role is ideal for a candidate with strong SQL and data processing skills who is eager to learn and grow in cloud data engineering, integration, and compliance.
Responsibilities
β’ Assist with database schema design and data modeling.
β’ Develop stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects.
β’ Build ETL processes and data pipelines; implement CI/CD for deployments.
β’ Create and optimize APIs and data access layers.
β’ Support performance monitoring, query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
β’ Assist with database migrations, upgrades, data quality validation, and retention procedures.
β’ Support metadata documentation and database testing.
β’ Implement database security controls, support FISMA compliance, and data masking.
β’ Work with RedShift, SQL Server, PostgreSQL on RDS/EC2.
β’ Collaborate with developers on best practices and participate in reviews.
Requirements
Experience:
β’ 13 years with SQL development and database fundamentals.
Skills
β’ PostgreSQL and SQL Server, stored procedures, indexing, query optimization, ETL (Python, SQL, Glue, Step Functions, Lambda).
Knowledge
β’ Database design principles, data modeling, integration patterns, data validation.
Education
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Clearance
β’ Personnel must be able to maintain the required level of clearance (Moderate Risk) while supporting the Board on this effort.
