Role description
Our client, a leading organization in data engineering and cloud infrastructure, is seeking a Kafka Engineer to join their team. As a Kafka Engineer, you will be part of the Infrastructure and Data Systems support team, working collaboratively to develop and manage scalable, reliable streaming data platforms. The ideal candidate will have problem-solving skills, adaptability, and strong communication abilities, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Kafka Engineer
Location: Owings Mills, MD
Pay Range: $60/hr
What's the Job?
Develop and maintain Kafka infrastructure, including Confluent Kafka, Cloud, Schema Registry, and KStreams components.
Support the entire lifecycle of Kafka platform activities, from requirements gathering to deployment and documentation.
Automate platform management processes using scripting tools like Python, Shell, and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
Troubleshoot and resolve incidents impacting Kafka systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable solutions that meet business data needs and optimize system performance.
What's Needed?
At least 3 years of experience with Python and Shell scripting in a DevOps environment.
Proficiency with AWS services such as EC2, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, and VPC.
Hands-on experience with Kafka, including Kafka Connect, KSQL, and KStreams, at an enterprise level.
Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals, containerization, and Kubernetes clusters.
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible.
