only W2 Position: L3 Senior Database Engineer / DBA (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) Location: Pleasanton, CA (onsite) Contract Job Description: L3 DBAs own database architecture, complex performance tuning, and critical incident resolution across multi-platform environments, and define standards and automation for the DBA function. Key responsibilities • Design and review database architectures, schemas, and standards for MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL, including high availability ( Always On / RAC / replication / clustering ). • Lead capacity planning, performance baselining, and advanced tuning (indexes, query rewrites, partitioning, parameter optimization, storage/layout strategies). • Act as final escalation for P1/P0 incidents (outages, severe performance degradation, data corruption), driving root cause analysis and permanent fixes. • Define and improve backup, recovery, DR, and HA strategies, including RPO/RTO targets and regular failover and restore testing. • Implement and enforce database security policies: encryption, auditing, role design, least privilege models, and compliance with regulatory requirements. • Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code for database provisioning, patching, deployments, and configuration drift control (using scripts and CI/CD pipelines). • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to L1/L2 DBAs and development teams, including code reviews for SQL, guidelines, and best practices. • Evaluate and introduce new database features, versions, tools, and cloud options, and contribute to technology roadmaps.
