Role description

Lead API Developer (C#, .NET, Azure) – Contract

100% Remote – EST hours

We're looking for a Lead API Developer to join a high-impact team working on a greenfield project for a major enterprise platform modernization. This is a 12+ month contract (with likely extensions), open to candidates anywhere in the U.S. who can work Eastern Time hours.

You'll play a key role in building out scalable APIs and leading governance across the org. This is a hands-on, strategic role—not just writing code, but shaping architecture and collaborating with product owners, UI devs, and other stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

   • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable APIs

   • Lead API development and governance efforts

   • Build serverless solutions with Azure Functions & Logic Apps

   • Implement CI/CD using GitHub Actions

   • Collaborate across teams to align API work with business goals

   • Mentor developers and advocate for best practices

Must-Haves:

   • 6+ years of C#/.NET Core API experience

   • Strong Azure (Functions, Logic Apps, APIM)

   • GitHub Actions, OAuth/JWT, API gateway knowledge

   • Strong communication and leadership in Agile environments

Nice-to-Haves:

   • GraphQL/gRPC, Azure Service Bus/Event Grid

   • Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)

   • Terraform or Bicep (IaC)
