Principal Data Architect – Warwick (3 Days Onsite)
Contract length: 6 months initially, starting ASAP
Day rate: £500 inside IR35
Our client is looking for a Principal Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of high-quality, scalable, secure data solutions across the organisation. You’ll define enterprise‑grade architecture, guide data engineering and analytics teams, and shape the future of our cloud data platforms.
This is a senior, hands-on role working across architecture, engineering, analytics, and business leadership — ideal for someone who thrives in a complex, fast‑moving environment and wants to set data strategy at scale.
What You’ll Do
• Own and define end‑to‑end data architecture for large, enterprise projects.
• Design data models, integration patterns, and cloud platform solutions.
• Lead the development and optimisation of data pipelines, storage, and governance frameworks.
• Guide visualisation, analytics, ML, and AI solution design.
• Ensure platforms are secure, resilient, scalable, and cost‑efficient.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, translating technical detail into business value.
• Support Agile/SAFe delivery, mentor team members, and promote strong data culture.
• Influence teams of 6–10 people (no direct line management).
• Indirect responsibility for budgets up to £100m.
What You’ll Bring
Deep expertise in:
• Modern cloud data platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure, Databricks
• ETL/ELT, CDC, streaming, APIs, messaging
• Data modelling: relational, dimensional, NoSQL
• Data governance, security, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, SoX)
• Power BI and modern visualisation tools
• Azure ML, ML/AI, generative/agentic AI
Strong experience in:
• End‑to‑end cloud data platform delivery
• Advanced Snowflake optimisation
• Complex enterprise data migrations
• RBAC, access control, data security frameworks
• Troubleshooting and improving complex data pipelines/platforms
Who You Are
• Highly autonomous, with the ability to lead complex, high‑impact initiatives
• Strong communicator who can influence senior stakeholders
• Confident guiding engineering, analytics, and product teams
• Passionate about modern data practices, security, and emerging tech
