Job Details Title: Lead Data Engineer / Data Architect Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid– 3 days/week) Duration: Long term Contract Industry: Financial Services / Asset Management / Alternative Investments Skills Required: Data Architecture | Data Modelling | SQL | Python | AWS (Glue, EMR) | Snowflake | Data Engineering Design Patterns | Data Governance | Financial Data Domain Job Description We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer / Data Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of an enterprise-grade data platform for our financial services client. This role will be key in defining and driving the organization's data engineering strategy, ensuring scalability, performance, and innovation. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and a strong understanding of financial data domains. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Lead data architecture and engineering strategy, aligning with overall business and technology roadmaps. β€’ Design and implement data models, pipelines, and integration frameworks across multiple platforms. β€’ Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance data solutions. β€’ Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability, including query tuning and resource management within Snowflake. β€’ Drive adoption of data engineering best practices and modern cloud architectures. β€’ Implement and monitor data validation and quality procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency. β€’ Collaborate closely with project managers, data architects, and business analysts to align milestones and deliverables. β€’ Mentor and guide onsite and offshore data engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions. β€’ Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and privacy standards. β€’ Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, data flows, and transformation logic. β€’ Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues, including job failures and performance bottlenecks. Required Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. β€’ 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on data architecture, data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical), ELT, and pipeline development. β€’ Hands-on experience with the Snowflake platform, including data sharing, secure views, and performance optimization. β€’ Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and AWS technologies (Glue, EMR). β€’ Strong working knowledge of Python for data engineering workflows. β€’ Solid understanding of data engineering design patterns and cloud data ecosystems. β€’ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently. β€’ Strong communication and collaboration skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Snowflake or other relevant data engineering certifications. β€’ Prior experience in asset management or alternative investments, with exposure to data security and compliance requirements. β€’ Familiarity with data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
