Objective
MDCPS seeks an experienced professional to participate in data cleansing, migration initiatives, and data management. The role includes developing data models, data stack architecture, and technical implementations that support evidence-based Child Welfare Practice at MDCPS.
Position Summary
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position within the MDCPS Data Management Team (DMT).
The successful candidate will:
• Contribute to data migration and design activities for the replacement of the legacy case management system with a new CCWIS Cloud-Based hosted solution.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of a cloud-based data stack to enable robust, actionable analytics capabilities.
• Report directly to the Lead Architect on the DMT.
Major Responsibilities
• Support and participate in identifying and managing data-related issues, risks, and gaps.
• Understand, design, and document source and target-state data architectures for both applications and cloud-based analytic platforms.
• Design and implement data pipelines.
• Develop subject matter expertise in business drivers, semantic meaning, and practices relevant to data management.
• Design and develop ETL architecture and associated technical work packages.
• Deliver measurable improvements to data quality metrics.
• Create and maintain Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), Business Vocabulary, Data Dictionary, Multi-Dimensional Models, and Semantic Models.
• Develop data mapping specifications for migration from legacy databases to new systems, including schema, lineage, and transformation documentation.
• Plan and implement Data Set Catalogues and manage metadata in the data stack.
• Identify and codify business rules for complex metrics.
• Develop semantic models with time series and hierarchical/drill-down views to support child welfare analytics.
Required Skills and Experience
All proposed candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Multidimensional Model Database Design, ETL design, and development.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with data quality and master data management integration.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with ERDs, data dictionary, business vocabulary, and database schema mapping.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with data analytic implementation projects.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with cloud-based data stack tools and platforms.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong knowledge transfer and documentation skills.
Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications
• Experience with Child Welfare data modeling, case management, and analytics.
• Familiarity with data quality and data exchange components of federal requirements for child welfare systems.
• Prior CCWIS project experience.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and build productive relationships with team members.
