Our challenge
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) Developer role, The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of experience in IBM BPM/BAW with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex applications.

• The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Minneapolis, MN is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
• Technical Leadership: Lead a team of developers in designing, coding, and deploying workflow applications using IBM BAW 19.x / IBM BPM 8.6.
• Solution Architecture: Define scalable, secure, and reusable BPM/BAW architectures integrating with Azure cloud and legacy systems.
• Hands-on Development: Build and optimize complex workflows, business process definitions, UI coaches, and integrations with external services (SOAP, REST, Java APIs).
• Data Migration & Integration: Oversee migration of business workflows and applications to the cloud environment (Azure), ensuring minimal disruption.
• Governance & Compliance: Ensure all workflow solutions meet regulatory, security, and audit requirements in the financial domain.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business analysts, product owners, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical workflows.
• Mentoring & Code Reviews: Provide technical guidance, perform peer reviews, and enforce best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Continuous Improvement: Evaluate emerging automation tools (ODM, Blueworks Live, RPA, AI-driven workflow orchestration) and recommend adoption strategies.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s / Master’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 5+ years in IBM BPM/BAW.
• Strong expertise in IBM BAW 19.x / IBM BPM 8.6, including Process Designer, Process Server, Case Manager, and Coaches.
• Proven leadership experience in leading workflow automation teams in large enterprises (preferably Banking/Financial Services).
• Hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and SQL Developer.
• Strong knowledge of IBM ODM, Blueworks Live, IIB, and integration middleware.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud integration.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders and mentor junior developers.
Preferred, but not required:
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for IBM BAW deployments.
• Exposure to API management tools and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of RPA tools (Automation Anywhere, UiPath) integrated with IBM BAW.
• Financial services domain experience (Banking, Capital Markets, Compliance workflows).
