Job Description
Backend Developer - AWS & Java
We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Platform Engineer to lead the design and development of internal platform services and scalable cloud infrastructure that enhance developer productivity and operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, simplifying systems, and empowering product teams to innovate faster with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Build robust and secure backend services using Java (preferred) or Python, focused on developer workflows like CI/CD, provisioning, and environment bootstrapping.
β’ Design and implement core components that enable self-service and reduce operational overhead across engineering teams.
β’ Build and manage infrastructure on AWS (EKS, IAM, Lambda, EC2, S3) using Terraform, adhering to Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps practices.
β’ Integrate tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, and ELK to ensure platform visibility, monitoring, and alerting.
β’ Contribute to technical designs, conduct code reviews, and drive continuous improvement through postmortem analysis and proactive on-call support.
β’ Work with security, operations, and product teams to prioritize platform features that streamline developer workflows.
β’ Continuously evaluate and implement new tools, frameworks, and language versions (e.g., Java upgrades).
β’ Assist in training, onboarding, and driving Agile/Kanban processes within the team.
β’ Troubleshoot issues, maintain detailed logs via JIRA and PagerDuty, and ensure timely resolution of platform-related incidents.
Qualifications:
β’ 10+ years of software engineering experience.
β’ 6+ years in backend development with Java (preferred) or Python.
β’ 6+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
β’ 3+ years deploying and managing Kubernetes workloads (EKS or similar).
β’ Strong expertise in:
β’ CI/CD and Automation: Terraform, GitLab CI, Jenkins.
β’ Cloud Security: IAM, RBAC, Active Directory integrations, vulnerability scanning.
β’ Observability: CloudWatch, Datadog, Elasticsearch.
β’ Distributed Systems and Networking: Solid understanding of system reliability and scalability.
β’ Proven ability to take technical ownership in complex, fast-paced environments.
β’ Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of adapting quickly while maintaining a strong execution focus.
