Duration: 5-month Contract
Pay Range: $60 – $82/hr W2 with benefits
We’re seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to support a critical initiative focused on migrating machine learning systems from on-prem infrastructure to Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform. This role offers the opportunity to replatform legacy ML pipelines, optimize distributed computing environments, and influence architecture decisions in a production-scale setting.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead the migration of ML pipelines from on-prem (MapReduce, Hive, Spark) to Vertex AI and DataProc
• Build and optimize large-scale distributed systems using Python, PySpark, Scala, and Ray
• Develop, train, and deploy ML models using Vertex AI, with a focus on production performance
• Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to define technical requirements and deliver scalable solutions
• Implement automated CI/CD pipelines and ensure maintainable, testable ML codebases
Must-Have Skills:
• 5+ years of experience in machine learning application development and deployment
• Hands-on experience with Vertex AI, DataProc, Spark, and Ray
• Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and/or Scala Spark
• Experience with big data tools and distributed ML model training
Preferred:
• Experience with RayIO, Kubernetes, and cloud-native model training pipelines
• Background in Vertex AI model tuning and advanced ML frameworks
• Previous migration work from legacy ML platforms to GCP
