Job Role: Power BI Technical Lead (Hands-On) Pay Rate: $60-$65/hr. on C2C/1099 Eligibility: USC, GC, GC-EAD, H4-EAD only Job Role: Onsite- San Diego, CA – Need locals only Start Date: . They would like people to start the 1st or 2nd week of September, at the latest DAX, Power query (M), Snowflake, Azure Synapse, SQL server, RLS and OLS, Cognos 10 Job Description: Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Power BI Architect with strong hands-on development expertise to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade semantic models and Power BI reports. This role combines architect-level solution design with hands-on development, ensuring scalable, high-performance reporting solutions that meet business requirements and align with best practices. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Solution Design 1. Lead the design and implementation of Power BI semantic models (shared datasets, dataflows, and reusable entities). 1. Define and enforce data modeling best practices, including star schema design, conformed dimensions, and performance optimization. 1. Architect solutions that integrate multiple data sources (e.g., Snowflake, Parquet files, APIs). 1. Design governance and security frameworks for row-level security (RLS) and object-level security (OLS). 1. Collaborate with enterprise data architects to align semantic models with the overall data strategy. Hands-On Development 1. Build highly optimized semantic models in Power BI, including calculated columns, measures, hierarchies, and KPIs using DAX. 1. Develop interactive and visually compelling Power BI reports and dashboards tailored to business needs. 1. Implement complex DAX calculations to support advanced analytics and business logic. 1. Optimize datasets for performance, storage, and refresh efficiency (Import, DirectQuery, Hybrid, Direct Lake). 1. Create reusable Power Query transformations and Dataflows for consistent data preparation. Collaboration & Delivery 1. Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional designs. 1. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Power BI developers. 1. Document data models, business logic, and report specifications. 1. Participate in code reviews and quality assurance for Power BI solutions. 1. Coordinate with DevOps/BI Ops teams for deployment and version control (ALM, Git integration). Required Skills & Qualifications 1. 8 years in Business Intelligence & Analytics, with 5 years focused on Power BI. 1. Proven expertise in semantic model design and enterprise-scale Power BI implementation. 1. Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and advanced data modeling techniques. 1. Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Azure Synapse, SQL Server, or other enterprise data platforms. 1. Deep understanding of star schema, dimensional modeling, and conformed dimensions. 1. Experience with performance tuning, dataset refresh optimization, and large-volume data handling (100M rows). 1. Familiarity with Snowflake 1. Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS). 1. Familiarity with Cognos 10 1. Strong communication skills for working with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Preferred Skills 1. Power BI data modeling (star schema, composite models, performance tuning). 1. Report development and automation (including Power BI REST API deployments). 1. Power BI Dataflows for reusable ETL pipelines. 1. Snowflake experience for integrating large-scale cloud data warehouses. 1. Team coordination for leading cross-functional BI projects. Education & Certification 1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field. 1. Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
