The institution is currently investing in improving how learning and operational data are used to support academic programmes, enhance student engagement, and inform strategic decision-making across the organisation. As part of this work, they are seeking an experienced Learning Analytics / Data Consultant to undertake a short-term project reviewing current systems, data availability, and reporting capabilities, and to develop a practical roadmap for strengthening learning analytics across the institution. Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Learning Analytics / Data Consultant to support a short-term project focused on auditing existing data, mapping current systems, and developing a practical roadmap for improving the use of learning and operational data. The role will focus on understanding how data is currently captured across platforms – particularly the Canvas Learning Management System – and identifying opportunities to improve reporting, learning analytics, and operational insights. The successful consultant will work with academic, digital learning, and IT teams to assess current capabilities and propose a practical plan for leveraging data more effectively across the institution. Key Responsibilities • Map key institutional systems containing learning and operational data • Audit available data across platforms such as LMS, student systems, and reporting tools • Assess data quality, accessibility, and integration points • Identify learning engagement and performance metrics currently available • Evaluate existing reporting capabilities and dashboards • Recommend improvements to learning analytics capabilities • Propose a practical data strategy and implementation roadmap Deliverables • Data systems and architecture overview • Learning data audit and findings report • Proposed learning analytics framework • Dashboard and reporting recommendations • Action plan for improving institutional data usage Essential Experience • Experience working with data or analytics within Higher Education • Strong understanding of Learning Management Systems (preferably Canvas) • Experience designing dashboards or reporting frameworks • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Technical Skills • Power BI or Tableau • SQL • Python (desirable) • Data integration / ETL tools (desirable)
