Job Summary:
The Loan Accounting System Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of loan accounting data and systems. This position bridges the gap between finance, lending operations, and IT by analyzing loan data, identifying trends or anomalies, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting system enhancements and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, an understanding of loan products and accounting principles, and experience working with loan accounting systems and data reporting tools.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Analyze loan accounting system data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
β’ Support the configuration, testing, and implementation of enhancements or updates to the loan accounting system (e.g., Loan IQ).
β’ Reconcile loan balances and transactions between the loan system and general ledger.
β’ Develop, maintain, and automate recurring and ad-hoc reports using tools such as SQL, DataBricks, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
β’ Collaborate with IT, finance, and loan operations teams to resolve data quality issues and streamline processes.
β’ Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
β’ Assist in audits and regulatory reporting by providing supporting data and documentation.
β’ Participate in system conversions, upgrades, and integration projects involving loan accounting data.
β’ Maintain system data dictionaries, mapping documents, and process documentation.
β’ Monitor and analyze portfolio trends, delinquencies, accruals, interest income recognition, and other key metrics.
Qualifications:
Required:
β’ Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
β’ 2 5 years of experience in financial services, loan operations, or data/system analysis.
β’ Experience working with loan accounting systems and financial data.
β’ Proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
β’ Strong understanding of accounting principles related to loan products (e.g., interest accruals, amortization, reserves).
β’ Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred:
β’ Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
β’ Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
β’ Knowledge of regulatory requirements (CECL, SOX, GAAP) related to loan accounting.
β’ Experience in system testing, UAT, or working with IT on data/system projects.
