DAY-TO-DAY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Logistics Data Specialist to manage inbound transportation and returnable container budgets. This role focuses on tracking costs, ensuring supplier compliance, and providing actionable financial insights to improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget Management: Plan, monitor, and forecast transportation and container management budgets. Track actual spending versus plan and report on variances.
Supplier Compliance: Implement and track penalties (debit notes) for supplier or process violations. Follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
Partner Collaboration: Work with internal teams (finance, logistics, operations) and external partners (suppliers, carriers) to clarify questions, resolve disputes, and maintain accurate records.
Financial Analysis: Analyze transportation and container costs regularly. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings or process improvement.
Reporting: Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports on budget performance, supplier penalties, and logistics operations. Provide insights to management.
General Support: Assist with other related tasks as needed to ensure smooth transportation and container operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong financial and budget management skills.
Experience in logistics, transportation, or container management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP MM, WM, or FI/CO modules preferred.
Experience preparing reports and performing financial analysis.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
Knowledge of inbound logistics or yard management processes.
Scope:
Performs reporting, data analysis and calculations needed within Foreign Supply Consolidated Services. Participates in department projects within the company’s operation.
Responsibilities
Serves as a point of contact for the companies Team for general and specific system requirements as a specialist in data analysis, calculation, and the writing of processes.
Develops, analyzes, and reports on foreign supply activities to Management, to steer the daily business needs.
Provides calculations and reports based on data and risk analysis, regarding the departments KPI’s and provides counter measures.
Schedules, plans, and facilitate training for on-boarding Associates.
Develops and Conducts data analysis on a variety of companies topics, which will include training to ensure continual improvement.
Extracts, compiles, and analyzes supplier invoices, from multiple sources, to ensure calculations are correct, and ensure overpayments are not made.
Represents the business as an expert on topics in meetings and cross-functional teams.
Identifies new business opportunities, services, and products to support continuous improvement in the departmental working model.
Responsible for certain controls, their periodic review, and for the training of others on VPS, internal controls, and OSHA requirements, to ensure compliance.
Provides and ensures reports are created weekly/monthly in accordance with business needs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the company’s Supervisor.
Qualifications
Experience:
3+ years of professional experience in business management to include experience in purchasing, data analysis, and training.
3+ years of experience working within a project/team environment preferred.
1+ years of knowledge of information system concepts and technologies.
1+ years project management
1+ years written and oral communication and presentation skills.
1+ years ability to interface with the business to meet requirements and targets. 1+ years MS Windows and Office skills.
Education
BS/BA degree in Information Technology, Business or related field or the equivalent of 4 years of related experience
