Machine Learning Engineer – Perception (Computer Vision) Location: Foster City, CA (Onsite – Minimum 3 Days per Week) Company: Zoox About the Role The Perception team at Zoox is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to develop cutting-edge Computer Vision modules that enhance onboard perception for our autonomous robot fleet. This role directly impacts vehicle safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle β€” from data collection and dataset creation to model design, implementation, validation, and deployment in real-world driving environments. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design and develop in-cabin Computer Vision machine learning modules for safety-critical perception and monitoring applications. β€’ Architect and implement advanced perception models using state-of-the-art deep learning techniques. β€’ Build and curate high-quality datasets leveraging multi-modal sensor inputs and large-scale driving data. β€’ Develop and apply sophisticated training strategies to improve model robustness and accuracy. β€’ Validate, optimize, and deploy solutions using real-world driving scenarios. β€’ Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate perception systems into latency-sensitive production environments. Required Qualifications β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. β€’ 4+ years of professional experience in machine learning or computer vision. β€’ Strong background in modern Computer Vision and Machine Learning, including: β€’ 3D reconstruction β€’ Object detection and classification β€’ Semantic segmentation β€’ Experience training and deploying deep learning models in production environments. β€’ Proficiency in C++ and/or Python. β€’ Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications β€’ Experience in the self-driving or autonomous vehicle industry. β€’ Experience integrating ML models into real-time, latency-sensitive systems. β€’ Hands-on experience with CUDA and GPU optimization. β€’ Familiarity with large-scale perception datasets and sensor fusion.
