Kforce has a client that seeking a Machine Learning Engineer in Fremont, CA 5 days onsite per week for a 6+ months contract to hire opportunity. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will tackle complex and ambiguous business and operational problems by designing and implementing end-to-end machine learning solutions. You will leverage your expertise in Python, deep learning frameworks, and algorithm optimization to build robust, production-ready models that drive real-world impact. Responsibilities:
β’ Translate loosely defined problems into actionable ML solutions by clarifying requirements, designing approaches, and selecting the right algorithms and architectures (e.g., supervised learning, CNNs)
β’ Design, implement, and train machine learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow, and utilize data tools like Pandas for preprocessing and analysis
β’ Handle large, heterogeneous, and multimodal datasets - including images, multi-spectral sensor outputs, voice, text, and tabular data - and develop preprocessing strategies to make data usable for ML models
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, process, controls, and quality to understand operational challenges and design ML solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing workflows
β’ Own and maintain production models, establishing alerting and monitoring systems to ensure reliability and quickly resolve any issues
β’ Optimize algorithms for performance using techniques such as quantization, pruning, and TensorRT conversion, and work in embedded or firmware-integrated contexts leveraging C++ when needed
β’ Apply strong theoretical foundations in linear algebra, geometry, probability theory, numerical optimization, and statistics to design models, evaluate feasibility, and rigorously assess performance
β’ Write clean, modular, and maintainable code to ensure ML solutions are scalable, sustainable, and easily transitioned from research to production
Requirements
β’ Proven experience rapidly prototyping and optimizing algorithms for high-performance, data-intensive applications
β’ In-depth expertise in Python, with desirable proficiency in C++ for integration with embedded systems or firmware
β’ Hands-on experience with modern deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
β’ Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and optimization techniques for model development and assessment
β’ Proven track record deploying and maintaining production machine learning solutions
β’ Passion for writing clean, sustainable, and modular code
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
