Job Title: Data Engineer (Market Data)
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite per week)

Role Summary
We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong expertise in Market Data to support Fixed Income / Asset Management platform. The role focuses on building scalable data pipelines, integrating external market data sources like Bloomberg and Reuters, and ensuring high-quality data for trading, risk, and analytics systems.
You will work closely with portfolio managers, analysts, and technology teams to deliver robust data solutions supporting investment decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for market and reference data
• Ingest data from external vendors such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv (Reuters), Aladdin, etc.
• Handle structured and unstructured data (APIs, flat files, streaming feeds)
Market Data Management
• Manage security master, pricing, and reference data across asset classes (Fixed Income, Derivatives, etc.)
• Ensure data quality, validation, and reconciliation across multiple data sources
• Monitor and troubleshoot data discrepancies impacting downstream systems
Data Architecture & Modeling
• Develop data models, schemas, and data warehouses/lakehouses
• Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and scalability
• Implement data lineage, cataloging, and governance frameworks
Collaboration & Business Alignment
• Work with trading desks, risk teams, and portfolio managers to understand data needs
• Support analytics, reporting, and regulatory requirements
• Partner with cross-functional teams in Agile environments
Required Skills & Experience
Core Technical Skills
• Strong experience in Python
• Advanced SQL and database design skills
• Hands-on experience with:
• Data Warehousing / Data Lakes
• ETL tools & frameworks
• APIs & data ingestion pipelines
Market Data Expertise (MUST HAVE)
• Deep understanding of:
• Fixed Income instruments (Bonds, MBS, ABS, Derivatives)
• Pricing, yields, curves, and market conventions
Big Data & Cloud (Preferred)
• Apache Spark / Kafka
• AWS / Azure / GCP
• Data Lake / Lakehouse architectures
Other Requirements
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience working in Investment Management / Capital Markets domain
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Nice to Have
• Experience with Aladdin or similar OMS platforms
• Knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Purview)
• Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD pipelines
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, or related field
