About the Role
Frills Fly is a growing multi-vendor e-commerce marketplace. We are seeking an experienced Marketplace Technical Lead to provide continuous technical maintenance, debugging, and support for both seller and customer dashboards. This is an ongoing, long-term retainer role focused on reliability, stability, and technical problem-solving — not rapid feature development.
If you have deep expertise maintaining complex multi vendor ecommerce marketplaces and understand the challenges of multi-vendor systems, this is an excellent match.
Core Responsibilities
Platform Maintenance
• Maintain and monitor WordPress, WooCommerce, BuddyBoss, and WC Vendors Pro
• Perform safe plugin, theme, and core updates (staged + verified)
• Monitor error logs, performance, and uptime
• Implement minor fixes, adjustments, and optimizations
• Ensure security best practices are in place
Troubleshooting & Bug Fixing
Diagnose and resolve issues with:
• Seller dashboards
• Customer dashboards
• Product listing forms
• Messaging/inbox features
• Checkout, orders, emails
• Plugin conflicts
• Custom plugin issues
• Investigate and fix PHP, JS, or theme override errors
• Identify root causes instead of temporary patches
Technical Support (Hybrid Model)
• Assist with technical escalations only (not general customer service)
• Provide solutions for seller issues such as:
• Upload problems
• Listing errors
• Dashboard malfunctions
• Broken UI or form fields
• Vendor settings misalignment
Assist with buyer and customer escalations such as:
• Errors checking out
• Account issues
• Order status problems
• Product listing description issues
This role does not require daily user support — only escalated technical cases.
Quality Assurance & Stability
• Test site updates and changes before deployment
• Monitor site health and performance weekly
• Ensure compatibility among multi-vendor components
• Work proactively to prevent outages
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
Must have ALL of the following:
• 4+ years professional experience with WordPress
• 3+ years WooCommerce (deep understanding of order flow + checkout)
• Experience with at least one major multi-vendor plugin (WC Vendors Pro preferred)
• Experience with BuddyBoss theme / BuddyPress environments
• Strong PHP + JavaScript debugging skills
• Experience fixing plugin conflicts and theme override issues
• Ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot custom code
• Experience handling multi-step forms, user roles, vendor permissions
• Experience managing dev/production environments
• Familiarity with Stripe/PayPal hooks and WC payment gateways
Operational Skills
• Strong troubleshooting discipline
• Ability to work independently
• Clear documentation skills
• Fast response time during incidents
• Experience with hosting, cPanel, databases, cron, caching layers
Bonus Skills (Not required but helpful)
• Experience with marketplace payout logic
• Experience with RMA (returns) flows
• Familiarity with security plugins and firewalls
• UI/UX sensitivity for dashboards
• Experience scaling WooCommerce
What Success Looks Like in This Role
• The marketplace stays fast, stable, and updated
• Bugs are resolved quickly and correctly
• Sellers and customers experience fewer technical issues
• Customer checkout works consistently
• No unexpected outages
• Plugins and theme updates do NOT break the site
• New issues are proactively detected and fixed
Compensation
• Monthly retainer: 10–20 hours per month
• Hourly rate: negotiable based on experience
• Additional hours billed at agreed rate
• Long-term engagement preferred
