Master Data Management Business Analyst

MDM Business Analyst / PM Needed at a Leading Hedge Fund Location: New York, NY. Hybrid 3 days a week in office - Must be within commuting distance to be in the NYC office when requested. Compensation: TBD, This is a contract position. You will sign a consulting agreement and be paid a per diem rate. Preference given to direct C2C candidates without a 3rd party. COMPANY OVERVIEW: Mazuma Software is a small technology consulting firm specializing in systems development for the hedge fund industry. WE NEED YOU: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Business Analyst to join our Master Data Management (MDM) team. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in MDM platforms and a strong background in business analysis, project management, and solution architecture. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving data governance, improving data quality, and enabling enterprise-wide data consistency. RESPONSIBILITIES: BUSINESS ANALYSIS Define, design, and implement scalable MDM solutions by developing a deep understanding of our business processes and data Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, processes, workflows, and data models related to our master data domains Translate business requirements into functional requirements for delivery within agile and/or hybrid model Review and enrich user stories and epics as needed to support backlog refinement and grooming Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams Monitor data quality metrics and implement remediation strategies Provide ongoing support and enhancements to existing MDM systems PROJECT MANAGEMENT Manage MDM-related projects from ideation through deployment and production support, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder alignment Coordinate testing cycles for QA, systems integration, and user acceptance Track milestones, risks, and dependencies, and communicate progress to leadership Clearly and concisely communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders Train business users by preparing guides, materials, and hosting training sessions Stay organized by updating the Azure Boards ticketing system CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT & COMMUNICATION Establish and maintain effective relationships with business and technology partners Proactively ask questions about the requirements or business’ needs Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices Continuously seek opportunities to improve MDM processes and tools Support data governance initiatives by defining policies, standards, and best practices REQUIRED SKILLS: Support data governance initiatives by defining policies, standards, and best practices 7+ years as technical business analyst with a focus on MDM In-depth knowledge of MDM core concepts, data architecture, data integration, and data governance Strong understanding of logical data modeling and relational database design Direct experience with Semarchy xDM is a plus, including Semarchy entities, enrichers, matchers, validations, and survivorship rules Well versed in project management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices Experience using Semarchy or similar MDM products (Informatica, Profisee, Tamr, Realtio, etc.) Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio or equivalent Familiar with writing SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and reporting (nice to have) Familiar with Azure DevOps/Boards and Agile development methodologies Experience in the finance industry, mastering domains such as assets, counterparties, investors, and legal entities Professional Scrum Product Owner or Scrum Master Certifications is a plus Excited to design and build a new application Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong, proactive communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or other relevant field Master’s degree is a plus Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: From $600.00 per day Application Question(s): What state are you located in?
