Job Overview
The Material Flow Engineer will be a critical member of our manufacturing team. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing material flow processes throughout our production facility. You'll ensure the seamless movement of materials from inbound logistics to lineside delivery, directly impacting production efficiency, cost, and overall operational excellence in our fast-paced startup environment.
What You’ll Do
• Implement PFEP (Plan For Every Part): Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Plan For Every Part. You’ll define crucial parameters like packaging standards, part presentation, and optimal delivery methods to ensure materials are where they need to be, when they need to be there.
• Design & Optimize Material Flow: Architect and scale our end-to-end material flow strategy. You’ll develop optimal layouts and routes for all materials, from inbound receiving to lineside delivery, with a focus on maximizing throughput, space utilization, and labor efficiency.
• Supplier Packaging: Collaborate with our supply chain team and suppliers to define packaging requirements that are efficient, reusable, and perfectly aligned with our internal material flow strategy.
• System & Process Improvement: Identify and eliminate waste in our material handling processes. You’ll use data to drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on safety, efficiency, and inventory accuracy.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure a flawless material integration from initial design to final production.
• Tooling & Equipment: Define and procure the necessary material handling equipment and tooling, such as carts, racks, and tuggers, to support your designs.
Who You Are
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
• 5-8+ years of experience in material flow design, logistics, supply chain, or process improvement within a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry. Startup experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of material flow principles, material handling equipment (MHE), and production control systems (inventory management, scheduling, logistics).
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA/SolidWorks).
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau).
