Description:
We are seeking an MDM Technical Lead to provide end-to-end technical leadership for our Product Master Data Management (MDM) ecosystem, centered on Oracle Product Data Hub (PDH) and integrated with multiple supporting platforms β including Supplier Exchange (homegrown supplier portal), Item Maintenance Applications, WebMethods integrations, Databricks Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), a Machine Learning enrichment layer (TAMR / Oracle AI), and integrations with a Product Information Management application (Hybris).
This role bridges architecture and delivery, leading the technical integrity, scalability, and reliability of the MDM landscape. The MDM Technical Lead works across multiple engineering and DevOps teams, ensuring designs are robust, estimates realistic, dependencies well-managed, and operational metrics (SLAs, MTTR, performance, load) consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design (β60%)
β’ Serve as the technical design authority for the Product MDM ecosystem, defining integration patterns, data models, and architectural standards across Oracle PDH, Supplier Exchange, Item Maintenance, and the Databricks data layer.
β’ Lead end-to-end solutioning and impact assessments for new requirements, enhancements, and integrations, ensuring scalability, data quality, and system resilience.
β’ Collaborate with data engineering, integration, and application teams to ensure architectural consistency across the ecosystem.
β’ Drive the transition of ML enrichment capabilities from TAMR to Oracle AI, defining design principles and data flow integration.
β’ Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools to strengthen the MDM and data ecosystem.
β’ Drive technology strategy and roadmap in collaboration with the Product Owner / Business Analyst and Program Manager.
β’ Partner with enterprise architects and data governance leaders to align with Thermo Fisherβs EDP and enterprise data strategy standards.
Delivery Oversight & Operations Leadership (β40%)
β’ Own technical delivery governance, ensuring accurate estimation, dependency management, and alignment across multiple delivery teams.
β’ Collaborate with the Product Owner / Business Analyst and Project Coordinator to refine technical stories, prioritize backlog, and validate delivery feasibility.
β’ Track and report technical progress, proactively identifying risks, blockers, and cross-system dependencies.
β’ Partner with DevOps and support teams to define and enforce operational standards, including SLAs, uptime, incident response, MTTR, and performance metrics.
β’ Support release planning and cutover readiness, ensuring smooth transitions from build to operations.
β’ Facilitate cross-team postmortems and root cause analyses, embedding continuous improvement practices.
Core Systems & Technology Ecosystem
β’ Oracle Product Data Hub (PDH) β central MDM platform
β’ Supplier Exchange β homegrown supplier portal (custom web application)
β’ Item Maintenance App β low-code internal application for product data operations
β’ WebMethods β integration and orchestration layer
β’ Databricks β enterprise data platform (EDP) for data processing, lineage, and analytics
β’ Machine Learning Layer β TAMR / Oracle AI
β’ Hybris β Product Information Management (PIM) application
β’ Supporting tools: Jira, Confluence, Git, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring dashboards
Qualifications & Experience
Required
β’ 10+ years of experience in enterprise data, MDM, or integration architecture roles, with 3β5 years in a technical leadership or delivery oversight capacity.
β’ 5+ years of strong hands-on and architectural experience with Oracle PDH or equivalent Product MDM platforms.
β’ Proven experience coordinating across multi-team delivery models and influencing without direct reporting authority.
β’ 3+ years of demonstrated expertise in data integration frameworks, API design, WebMethods, or equivalent middleware technologies.
β’ 3+ years of experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Azure, or AWS and modern data engineering patterns.
β’ 1 to 3 years of solid understanding of DevOps practices, SLAs, incident management, and performance optimization.
β’ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge business requirements and technical execution.
Preferred
β’ Experience supporting data pipelines for machine learning or data enrichment solutions.
β’ Exposure to low-code or no-code application platforms.
β’ Familiarity with data governance frameworks, including data lineage, stewardship, and metadata management.
β’ Prior experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments such as life sciences, manufacturing, or healthcare.
Education
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
β’ Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
β’ Relevant certifications (Oracle, Data Architecture, Cloud, MDM, or Integration platforms) are a plus.
Success Metrics
β’ Accurate and timely delivery of MDM technical features and integrations.
β’ Stable, scalable, and performant MDM ecosystem meeting or exceeding SLA and MTTR targets.
β’ Reduced rework and improved delivery predictability across teams.
β’ Clear, actionable architectural documentation and standards.
β’ Effective coordination, accountability, and collaboration among distributed delivery teams.
