We are growing and looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer who thrives in dynamic, client-facing technical delivery. Role Summary The Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer will serve as the primary hands-on technical resource for end-to-end migrations to the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. While email migration is a core component, this role covers the full suite of M365 services, including Teams and SharePoint Online. You will lead transitions from diverse source environments—including On-Premises Exchange (2010–2019/SBS), Tenant-to-Tenant (M365), Google Workspace (GWS), and File Servers/Hosted SharePoint—ensuring a seamless transition of mail, collaboration data, and document repositories. Position Details Feature Details Job Title Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer Department Delivery / Professional Services Reports To Senior Consulting Engineer / Principal Consultant Employment Type Full-Time or Contract (W2 or 1099 considered) Location Remote with occasional on-site (Edison, NJ HQ; client sites as needed) Travel Up to 20% — client sites, project kickoffs, and go-live support Citizenship Clearance Ability to pass background check required; government clearance a plus Core Responsibilities Full-Stack M365 Migration Delivery • Messaging: Execute migrations from Exchange (2010–2019/SBS), Google Workspace, and Hosted Exchange to M365. Manage Hybrid (HCW) setups, Public Folder transitions, and large mailbox archiving strategies. • SharePoint & OneDrive: Lead the migration of legacy file shares (NTFS) and on-premises SharePoint sites to SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business using SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) or ShareGate. • Microsoft Teams: Design and execute Teams migrations (Tenant-to-Tenant), including Channels, Chats, Tabs, and associated SharePoint site structures. • Tenant-to-Tenant: Handle complex M365-to-M365 migrations involving domain moves, identity re-mapping, and cross-tenant data synchronization. • Tooling: Proficiency in Quest Migrator, BitTitan MigrationWiz, ShareGate, and native Microsoft migration engines. Email Security & Identity Integration • Configure Microsoft Entra Connect for hybrid identity synchronization. • Reconfigure and validate Mimecast, Proofpoint, or Barracuda gateways, ensuring inbound/outbound mail routing and security policies remain intact post-migration. • Identify and remediate SMTP relay dependencies for printers, scanners, and LOB applications. Pre-Assessment & Documentation • Run discovery scripts to produce inventory reports for mailboxes, SharePoint site structures, and Teams configurations. • Author "As-Built" documentation, DNS cutover runbooks, and project closeout packages. • Support pre-sales by scoping Statements of Work (SOWs) and participating in technical discovery calls. Required Qualifications & Skills Must-Have Technical Skills: M365 / Exchange Online • SharePoint Online Migration • Microsoft Teams Administration • Exchange Hybrid (HCW) • Tenant-to-Tenant Migrations • Google Workspace to M365 • Microsoft Entra Connect • DNS (MX/SPF/DKIM/DMARC) • PowerShell • Mimecast, Proofpoint, or Barracuda • ShareGate / BitTitan / Quest • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on migration delivery across Email, SharePoint, and Teams. • Legacy Knowledge: Proven ability to navigate SBS (Small Business Server) and legacy file server permissions/structures. • Scripting: Strong PowerShell skills for environment discovery and bulk data manipulation. • Security Gateways: Hands-on experience reconfiguring Mimecast, Proofpoint, or Barracuda in a migration context. Preferred Qualifications: • Certifications: MS-203 (Messaging), MS-700 (Teams), or MS-102 (Administrator Expert). • Modern Integration: Familiarity with ChatGPT / Microsoft Copilot integration within the M365 suite. • Compliance: Experience working with government (CJIS/FedRAMP) or healthcare (HIPAA) compliance requirements.
