Job Summary A premier Life Sciences organization is seeking a discerning and intellectually curious Scientist II to join the R&D cohort in Guilford, CT. This position is a 1-year contract engagement, operating full-time onsite (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) at a non-negotiable compensation rate of $35.00/hr. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing novel next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays destined for clinical laboratory applications, directly bridging the gap between genomic innovation and quantifiable patient impact. location: Guilford, Connecticut job type: Contract salary: $33 - 35 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelors Responsibilities • Assay Development & Innovation: Collaborate within a multidisciplinary R&D framework to design, optimize, and scale next-generation sequencing assays tailored for precise clinical diagnostic utility. • Workflow Execution: Perform end-to-end molecular workflows, including complex biological sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction (DNA/RNA), and advanced molecular amplification techniques. • Instrumentation & Technology: Calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot state-of-the-art sequencing platforms, with a specialized emphasis on Ion Torrent semiconductor sequencing technologies. • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Execute fundamental genomic data analysis, translating complex sequencing readouts into actionable insights to validate experimental hypotheses. • Regulatory & Documentation Rigor: Author robust study protocols, comprehensive project reports, and technical documentation to support stringent product verification and validation (V&V) processes. • Operational Excellence: Maintain absolute scientific integrity and strict adherence to established molecular biology protocols within a high-throughput, collaborative, and fast-paced laboratory infrastructure. Qualifications Required: • Education: Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics, or a parallel scientific discipline with a minimum of 2+ years of post-academic industrial or rigorous academic laboratory experience; or a Master's degree with relevant hands-on thesis specialization. • Technical Core: Proven mastery of foundational molecular biology techniques, including handling of DNA, RNA, and proteins, alongside proficiency in PCR, qPCR, and nucleic acid quantification methods. • Sequencing Expertise: Direct exposure to next-generation sequencing (NGS) methodologies, ideally utilizing Ion Torrent instrumentation and associated target amplification workflows. • Data Literacy: Competency in basic bioinformatics data analysis, workflow visualization, and the Microsoft Office suite. • Execution & Culture: Demonstrated capability to strictly follow complex, multi-step technical protocols while maintaining a high level of agility and collaboration in a bustling laboratory setting. • Compliance Requirement: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the requirement of employer visa sponsorship.
