Senior Microsoft Azure Engineer, long term contract with benefits
Location: Hybrid Washington DC, 2-3 days onsite
Clearance Required: Active Top Secret / SCI
We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Azure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of secure, scalable cloud solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. This critical role supports the modernization of infrastructure, cloud-native application deployment, and mission-critical operations in hybrid or fully cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Architect and implement Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions for enterprise and digital transformation initiatives.
β’ Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using ARM, Bicep, or Terraform.
β’ Collaborate with security, networking, and DevOps to enforce governance, compliance, and automation.
β’ Troubleshoot and tune Azure services (VMs, Functions, AKS, App Services).
β’ Manage hybrid environments using Azure Arc, Azure Stack, and ExpressRoute.
β’ Administer Azure AD, Conditional Access, and RBAC for identity and access control.
β’ Drive cloud cost optimization through FinOps practices.
β’ Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural strategy.
Required Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
β’ 5+ years of systems engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on Azure.
β’ Deep expertise in Azure compute, storage, networking, and security.
β’ Strong automation/scripting skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM/Bicep/Terraform).
β’ Knowledge of compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, HIPAA).
β’ Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Sentinel.
Preferred:
β’ Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
β’ Hybrid/multi-cloud experience (e.g., Azure + AWS).
β’ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
β’ Experience supporting government or classified workloads.
