Role description
API Sr Integration Developer
Location: London- Hybrid mode
We are seeking an experienced middleware, MuleSoft API Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs that power enterprise-grade applications. This role demands a proactive engineer with a strong foundation in MuleSoft and RESTful expertise, and a passion for driving best practices and innovation across teams.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and implement APIs to integrate with target Policy Center system
β’ Build and maintain API gateways and ensure proper routing, authentication, and monitoring.
β’ Work closely with solution architects and back-office teams to translate integration requirements into technical designs.
β’ Ensure real-time data flows for pricing, policy, billing, and claims.
β’ Implement error handling, logging, and retry mechanisms for high availability.
β’ Collaborate with QA/test teams to provide mocks, stubs, and automated API tests.
β’ Support UAT and production rollout with deployment documentation and technical knowledge transfer.
β’ Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and data privacy standards.
β’ Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps processes for APIs.
Required Skills & Experience
β’ Strong proficiency in API design and development (RESTful, SOAP, JSON, XML).
β’ Experience with API gateways (Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, or equivalent).
β’ Experience with API integrations.
β’ Proficiency in programming languages (Java, C#, Python, or Node.js).
β’ Knowledge of message queues / event-driven integrations (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
β’ Familiarity with cloud integration platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
β’ Experience with databases and data integration (SQL, ETL pipelines).
β’ Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
β’ Strong understanding of security (OAuth2, JWT, TLS, API key management).
β’ Prior experience in insurance or financial services integration projects (preferred).
β’ Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have
β’ Experience with data warehousing & analytics integrations.
β’ Exposure to regulatory compliance projects in insurance.
