Job Title: Data AnalystWork Location: Trenton, NJ 08609-1212 Rate: $45-50$/hr 1099 Work Arrangement: Initial Schedule: 100% Onsite for the first 2 to 6 weeks Ongoing Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Interview Requirement: Round 1 must be conducted in person Rate: $45–$50/hr (1099) Job Overview: The New Jersey Department of Agriculture is seeking a seasoned Data Analyst to evaluate and enhance the department’s data systems, reporting capabilities, and data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Assess complex data systems and programs to support both ad-hoc and standard reporting needs. Develop reports, programs, and methodologies to present both current and legacy data. Evaluate data quality and propose improvements across data systems. Research new data sources and third-party analytics tools (e.g., AWS-based tools). Support application/report development and enhancements to data presentation and delivery. Collaborate with internal departments to understand data requirements and obtain feedback on implemented improvements. Identify opportunities for automation and optimization within existing data processes. Preferred Qualifications: Strong mathematical and analytical skills for collecting, organizing, and interpreting data. Proficient in SQL and Python (required and highly desired, respectively). Experience in SAP BusinessObjects (highly desired). Familiarity with JavaScript, XML, and/or ETL frameworks (highly desired). Proficient in statistical tools such as Excel, SPSS, or SAS (desired). Solid understanding of database design, data modeling, mining, and optimization.
