Role description
Job Title: Neo4j Graph Developer Location: New York, NY (Hybrid Onsite – Local Candidates Only) Position Overview: We are seeking a Neo4j Graph Developer hybrid contract based in New York, NY. This role is geared toward local candidates only due to required onsite presence. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a background in money movement, trade monitoring, AML, fraud detection, or surveillance in the wealth management sector. You must bring a deep expertise in Neo4j, Graph Data Science, Cypher queries, and Python-based data engineering, along with a solid understanding of stream processing, real-time data integration, and advanced analytics using AI/ML. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and optimize Neo4j Graph database solutions for financial crime detection and surveillance use cases. • Design and implement efficient Cypher queries, including data ingestion pipelines, indexing, and graph modeling. • Tune query and database performance to meet scalability and resilience requirements. • Leverage Python for batch data engineering (via Apache Spark) and real-time integrations (Kafka). • Build and manage real-time and near-real-time stream processing solutions to support ML model inference. • Collaborate with Data Science teams to build AI/ML solutions solving complex graph problems. • Participate in full SDLC including business requirement gathering, architecture/design, development, testing, and deployment. • Work across multiple data platforms, including SQL Server and Impala, to ingest and query data. • Produce high-quality documentation and contribute to best practices in graph data development Required Qualifications: • 8+ years of overall experience in software/data engineering. • 3+ years of senior-level experience working with Neo4j Graph database. • 3+ years of experience in Money Movement, Trade Monitoring, AML, Fraud, or Surveillance in financial services (preferably wealth management). • Proficiency in: • Neo4j Cypher queries, Graph Data Science, and performance tuning • Python programming for data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline development • Apache Spark for batch processing • Kafka for real-time event stream processing • SQL for querying data from SQL Server and Impala • Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities. • Ability to work independently and quickly learn new technologies. Preferred Skills: • Experience with Cloudera Hadoop • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA) • Proficient in Git, Bash scripting, and Python/Shell scripting • Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and job scheduling tools like Autosys or Control-M • Experience working in Linux environments
