Role description
Position Title: O365 Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: Up to 3 years (Eligible to convert to FTE, not required)
Day to day expectations
This role serves as a hands-on Microsoft 365 and Identity Engineer supporting a large federal security initiative. Day to day, the engineer designs, configures, and supports Microsoft 365 services and identity platforms while helping migrate environments into a high‑security, government‑compliant cloud. The work includes managing identity and access controls, supporting hybrid and cloud identity environments, troubleshooting complex M365 and IAM issues, implementing automation, monitoring security and performance, collaborating with security and infrastructure teams, and producing clear technical documentation. The role is fully remote, full‑time, and includes participation in planned after‑hours cutover events tied to migration milestones.
Required skills
• 3–5+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365 administration and engineering experience
• Strong Identity and Access Management experience in enterprise environments
• Deep experience with Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, B2B identities, and identity lifecycle management
• Experience supporting hybrid identity environments (on‑prem Exchange, Entra ID Connect, federation, directory sync)
• Proficiency with PowerShell and scripting for automation and administration
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Purview, and related security/compliance tools
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues across M365, identity platforms, and hybrid environments
Plus or nice to have skills
• Experience managing Okta or other third‑party identity platforms
• Microsoft certifications such as MS‑102, SC‑300, SC‑100, or AZ‑104
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and modern identity security practices
• Experience with Microsoft Defender, DLP, and advanced compliance tooling
• Knowledge of Intune and endpoint management
• Experience building automation with Microsoft Graph API or Power Automate
• Strong documentation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
