Business/Actuarial Analyst (Non-IT): Intermediate needed for a 12 month Contract opportunity with Yoh’s client located in Plano, TX. The Big Picture – Top Skills Should You Possess: Role Summary: This is a data-heavy, Actuarial-adjacent Business Analyst role, Not IT delivery and Not a classic requirements BA. The person will work closely with actuaries and risk teams, analyze and visualize catastrophe (CAT) loss data, build dashboards and geospatial visualizations to support Concentration of Risk (CoR) reporting, help transition data workflows from SQL to Snowflake and serve as a bridge between actuarial modeling, data, and reporting. This role values analytical rigor, attention to detail, and comfort with risk data. What You’ll Be Doing/Key Responsibilities: Data & Analytics • Query, manipulate, and analyze large datasets using SQL (Snowflake exposure is a plus) • Perform detailed analysis supporting CAT loss forecasting and CoR metrics • Conduct peer reviews of complex Excel-based reports Visualization & Geospatial Analysis • Build geospatial dashboards (ArcGIS or similar) to visualize catastrophe risk and loss exposure • Create clear, consumable views for actuarial and risk leadership Actuarial & Risk Support • Shadow actuaries to learn and support the Concentration of Risk (CoR) framework • Provide analytical backup for quarterly CoR reporting • Research and prototype new CoR metrics and projections Collaboration & Enablement • Act as liaison between modeling, data, and reporting teams • Support migration of data infrastructure from SQL to Snowflake • Contribute ideas to improve enterprise risk management strategies What You Need to Bring to the Table/Must-Have: • Actuarial or actuarial-adjacent background (insurance, risk, CAT modeling exposure) • Strong SQL for querying and data manipulation • Advanced Excel skills (complex reports, reviews, analysis) • Geospatial analysis / visualization experience (ArcGIS preferred) • Extremely high attention to detail Technology Stack • Primary: SQL, Excel, ArcGIS • Secondary: Snowflake • Domain Tools: CAT modeling platforms (exposure is a plus) Ideal Candidate Profile • Actuarial analyst, risk analyst, or data analyst from insurance / reinsurance • Comfortable working with catastrophe loss data • Analytical, detail-oriented, and methodical • Not IT-delivery focused, not a generic BA Bonus Points!
