Role description
Position: Operational Technology (OT) Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: Long Term Contract
The OT Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation and enhancement of Operational Technology systems. This role requires advanced technical capabilities in Linux OS, software development (Python & Java), and industrial communication protocols. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that OT systems are secure, interoperable and aligned with digital strategy.
This role is located in Houston, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
OT Infrastructure & System Engineering
o Audit and optimize OT architectures energy storage assets.
o Ensure system reliability, scalability and compliance with ENGIE's operational standards.
Linux System Expertise
Audit and secure Linux-based platforms used in field and edge environments.
Develop and deploy automation tools and system services to support OT operations.
Software Development & Integration
Audit and update Python and Java applications for data acquisition, protocol translation and system integration.
Collaborate with IT and data teams to enable seamless data flows and analytics.
Industrial Communication Protocols
Implement and troubleshoot wired and wireless protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3 and MQTT.
Support telemetry, SCADA integration and real-time data exchange across assets.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Apply cybersecurity standards to OT environments.
Support vulnerability assessments, patching and secure configuration management.
Technical Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement
Produce detailed technical documentation for OT systems and interfaces.
Engage with internal stakeholders to align OT capabilities with operational needs
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in OT engineering, industrial automation or energy systems.
Advanced proficiency in Linux OS administration and scripting.
Strong development experience in Python and Java.
Deep understanding of Modbus, DNP3, MQTT and other industrial protocols.
Familiarity with SCADA systems, networking and cybersecurity frameworks.
Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is a plus.
Strong analytical, communication and documentation skills
