Role description
Operations Data Analyst • Hybrid – Oakland, CA (Up to 2 Days/Week Onsite) • Contract: 8 Months (Potential for Extension) • Hourly Rate: $70/hour Swoon is partnering with a leading utility and energy provider to hire a Data Analyst who is passionate about transforming data into actionable business insights. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex datasets, building executive dashboards, and partnering with cross-functional teams to support operational and strategic decision-making. If you have strong experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, SAP, and Excel, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you! What You'll Do • Analyze complex business data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that drive operational improvements and strategic decisions. • Develop and maintain executive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI. • Extract, clean, validate, and integrate data from multiple enterprise systems. • Query and analyze data using SQL, Python, and SAP. • Build automated reporting solutions using Excel and Power Query. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand analytical needs and deliver data-driven solutions. • Present insights and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, reporting, and process optimization. • Learn and leverage enterprise analytics platforms such as Foundry, Copperleaf, and GIS. What We're Looking For • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • Proven experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI. • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, structured datasets. • Experience using Python, SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Power Query. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. • Ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights for diverse audiences. • Experience working collaboratively across multiple teams and business functions. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Foundry, Copperleaf, or GIS platforms. • Previous experience within the utility, energy, infrastructure, or asset-intensive industries is a plus.
