Working as part of The National Archives’ Sustainability Team, this part-time role supports the collection, organisation and maintenance of accurate data that underpins our environmental sustainability reporting. You will help track key metrics, integrate new and historic data, and create interactive visualisations that enable the delivery of our sustainability work and allow access to reliable information for progress monitoring.
Our ideal candidate is adept in data analysis, collection and reporting, a keen problem-solver and qualifed or experienced in the field of sustainability and environmental management.

This is a part time role of 0.5 FTE. The successful candidate will work 18 hours per week.
A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.

Sustainability Data Management
• Manage end-to-end process of the sustainability database, including data collection from various resources from cross departments, validation, and submission. Maintain sustainability database, dashboards and reporting tools, ensuring consistent, high-quality data for internal reporting and external disclosure.
• Implement auditable data quality controls, including versioning, evidence tracking, documentation and audit trails.
• Produce clear, insightful visualisations and performance summaries using Excel, advanced Power BI and other analytical tools for analysing environmental datasets (energy, CO₂ emissions, waste, water, and other indicators) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform organisational decision making.
Internal Stakeholder Engagement And External Communication
• Work closely with teams across the organisation to gather information, validate assumptions, and to contribute to the continuous improvement of environmental sustainability data structure and data management workflow.
• Support and host discussions within multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders, manage differing perspectives and support collaborative decision‑making and be an advocate for the team externally.
• Present and explain the complex data and methodologies to non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.
• Support operation and progress tracking of the organisational sustainability related committee and prepare regular reporting material to internal governance bodies and committees.
• Communicate with external service providers and consultancy and able to work collaboratively.
Continuous Improvement And Collaboration
