Pay Rate: $45-$50/hourPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Operations Data Analyst to support data-driven decision-making within a large-scale utility organization. This hybrid role requires candidates currently residing in the Bay Area and the ability to work onsite at the Oakland General Office (OGO) three times per week.The analyst will focus on dashboards and reporting, data governance, audit readiness, and improving tracker accuracy. This position requires strong analytical thinking, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.Key Responsibilities
• Manage standard, routine data analysis projects from initial request through presentation of results, ensuring delivery within budget and on time.
• Collaborate with Data Management Analysts to process and analyze data, develop automated data routines, and ensure accurate data cleansing and reporting.
• Manage standard data extracts and list pulls, ensuring accurate data transfers to analysts supporting operational analysis efforts.
• Apply statistical tools to analyze data and develop ad hoc reports, trends, statistics, and profiles.
• Create and maintain dashboards and KPI reports using Power BI and Excel.
• Support data governance, audit readiness, and records management initiatives.
• Conduct root cause analysis, trend analysis, and logging automation to improve operational insights.
• Develop clear, concise, and actionable data insights for stakeholders.
Required QualificationsEducation:
• BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience in data analysis or reporting
Technical Skills:
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and/or Access (complex formulas, graphing, VBA)
• SQL query development (Oracle or Business Objects)
• Dashboard development using Power BI
• Experience developing and reporting metrics and KPIs
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with utility operations
• Experience with UNIX shell programming (csh, awk, sed, vi)
• Knowledge of base-SAS
• Programming experience (Visual Basic, Perl, C)
• Experience with folder structures, data logging taxonomy, and audit-ready documentation
• Experience supporting tracker accuracy and logging automation
Tools & Equipment
• Company-issued laptop and docking station
• Microsoft Teams for meetings and collaboration
• Temporary use of personal device with Citrix until company laptop is available
