Database (Oracle Exadata) Patch Engineer — Remote | Long-Term Contract
Digital iTechnology (Austin, TX) | W-2
Impact: Own the end-to-end patching lifecycle for Oracle Exadata and Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC). Keep mission-critical databases secure, stable, and compliant—while minimizing downtime.
What you’ll do
• Patch Exadata/ExaCC (compute nodes, DomU VMs, Grid Infrastructure, Databases).
• Run QMR/SMR cycles; set maintenance policy/windows and pre-work.
• Plan/execute OCI patching (Console/CLI/REST); apply/rollback/monitor.
• Automate with Terraform/Ansible; standardize gold images via OEM LCM Fleet.
• Patch Oracle RAC (GRID/RDBMS/ASM); support Data Guard procedures.
• Deliver quarterly PSU/CPU, third-party, and one-off patches with rollback plans.
• Troubleshoot post-patch issues; lead RCA and remediation.
• Document procedures; follow ITIL change/incident/problem practices.
What you bring
• 7+ years Exadata/ExaCC and Oracle DB patching.
• Strong Linux (RHEL) in Exadata/OCI.
• Hands-on with RAC, GRID, ASM; OCI automation (CLI/API), OS image & DomU patching.
• Backup/rollback strategy expertise; crisp troubleshooting and comms.
Nice to have
• OCP / Exadata Mgmt / OCI Architect certs.
• OEM fleet/OMS/agent patching; large HA environments.
• Security & vulnerability compliance (Qualys, Brinqa).
