About The Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh. Our client is seeking a mid‑level Oracle PL/SQL Developer to support the delivery and ongoing enhancement of financial services client platforms. This role will involve working closely with delivery teams and end‑client stakeholders to develop, optimise, and support business‑critical Oracle‑based systems, with particular emphasis on performance, stability, and production support. Responsibilities:
Deliver Oracle PL/SQL development contributing across the full SDLC from requirements through to release and support.
Build, enhance, and maintain PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and complex SQL, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned to client requirements.
Support client production environments, including incident investigation, root‑cause analysis, defect fixes, and controlled releases in line with agreed SLAs.
Analyse and improve database and application performance, with exposure to query optimisation, execution plans, indexing, and performance diagnostics.
Work closely with project teams, client stakeholders, and QA to deliver high‑quality outcomes, providing clear communication and technical input throughout delivery.
About You
Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years commercial experience as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer, with hands‑on development of enterprise‑scale solutions in client or delivery‑led environments.
Strong SQL and PL/SQL capability, including writing and maintaining complex queries, stored procedures, and database logic.
Experience supporting client‑owned or externally facing systems, with confidence working in live production environments.
Exposure to performance tuning concepts (or a strong interest in developing this further), such as SQL optimisation, indexing strategies, and performance troubleshooting.
Experience working in Agile or structured delivery environments, with the ability to engage professionally with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
