About the Company
We are seeking an experienced contractor to support our Real-World Evidence (RWE) projects by providing expertise in NHS patient selection in an out-patient setting and analysis. Our aim is to use RWE data to identify patients in conditions treated only in outpatient care.
About the Role
The contractor will provide comprehensive guidance on various aspects of NHS outpatient diagnostic data sources and methodologies for patient selection.
Responsibilities
• Data Identification: Map available NHS outpatient diagnostic data sources and their scope
• Data source selection: Define which data sources or data points could be used to select patients for conditions only treated in outpatient care with expected coverage
• Access Pathways: Detail step-by-step processes for data access applications and approvals
• Patient Selection: Define methodologies for identifying and selecting patients based on the defined data sources
• Compliance Framework: Ensure adherence to NHS data governance, GDPR, and research ethics requirements
• Implementation Roadmap: Provide actionable timeline and resource requirements
Qualifications
• NHS Data Systems: Deep understanding of NHS data infrastructure (where and how clinical and administrative data is stored within the hospital's digital infrastructure), governance, and regulatory frameworks
• Outpatient Diagnostic Codes: Hands-on experience with NHS outpatient diagnostic coding systems (ICD-10, SNOMED CT, Read codes)
• RWE Studies: Previous involvement in Real-World Evidence projects within the UK healthcare system is a plus
Required Skills
• Knowledge of NHS Digital data services and application processes
• Experience with Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), or similar NHS datasets
• Understanding of patient cohort identification and selection methodologies
• Familiarity with NHS data quality standards and validation processes
• Pharmacy systems/out patient systems experience
Preferred Skills
• Previous work with NHS Trusts or NHS Digital
• Experience with RWE projects
• Background in epidemiology, health informatics, or clinical research is a plus
