Role description
Technical Platform Operations β€’ Automate admin tasks with Python and SQL for APIs and CLIs to enhance the data platform β€’ Collaborate with technical staff to optimize their environments β€’ Manage cloud platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Qlik, Event Hubs, Power BI, and other Azure services β€’ Create notification solutions to ensure cloud platforms are operational β€’ Install patches and upgrades β€’ Support issue resolution and escalation β€’ Report on business metrics of the platform (adoption, goals alignment, product team needs) β€’ Develop custom DevOps capabilities when not built-in β€’ Engage with vendors to learn new platform capabilities β€’ Set platform standards β€’ Measure data pipeline compliance and platform uptime β€’ Participate in MVP and PoC activities to explore new tech capabilities β€’ Perform root cause analysis for issues β€’ Implement data quality checks and monitoring systems based on source data gaps and business rules. β€’ Redesign compute clusters to optimize costs and ensure workload isolation. β€’ Provide cost monitoring and visibility tools to track and report on cloud platform compute expenses. Product Development Operations β€’ Communicate with technical staff β€’ Automate release processes for data applications β€’ Implement frameworks for varied data ingestion β€’ Resolve technical and process issues β€’ Document processes and onboard new engineers β€’ Measure and report cloud platform usage Improve Interoperability β€’ Communicate platform status to technical product team members β€’ Develop regression testing solutions to ensure alignment across various teams and prevent conflicting implementations on the platform β€’ Collaborate effectively with cross-functional IT stakeholders to develop DevOps solutions β€’ Proactively communicate potential risks across functions Required Experience/Education β€’ College or vocational training in Computer Science, Programming, or similar technical areas. β€’ Or 1 – 2 years work experience in data processing, programming languages (SQL, Python, SAS, R, etc.), infrastructure, dev ops, etc.. This experience could be in school or a work environment. Required Competencies/Skills β€’ Proficiency in modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI, Qlik Data Integration) β€’ Basic technical knowledge and understanding of data processing β€’ Understanding and applying data quality principles β€’ Identifying potential technical issues and risks β€’ Collaborating across all levels and areas of the data platform team and analytics teams β€’ Participating in PoC efforts to research emerging technologies β€’ Working closely with technical personnel, including hands-on implementation β€’ Proficiency in Python and SQL β€’ Tech-focused career enthusiasm β€’ Experience with CI/CD Preferred Experience/Education β€’ Post High School college or tech training Preferred Skills β€’ Knowledge of infrastructure as code β€’ Adaptability to a fast-paced environment The projected hourly range for this position is $50-70/hr.
