Role description
Akkodis is seeking a Platform Operation Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Cincinnati, OH (Onsite).
Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the Platform Operation, Java, Microservices and Angular
Pay Range: $60 - $65/hour ; (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Position Summary:-
This role blends hands-on software engineering with platform, infrastructure, and operational ownership. The engineer will support a modern AWS-based portal while also maintaining critical on-prem components, batch jobs, and shared services. They will partner closely with development teams, Production Support team, network and infrastructure groups to ensure the reliability, security, and compliance of the platform. The ideal candidate understands cloud architecture, CI/CD micro services, and microfrontends, and is comfortable navigating both code and infrastructure to keep systems healthy, secure, and complaint.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
β’ Drive recurring operational tasks such as certificate renewals, infrastructure upgrades, patching, and environment maintenance across AWS and on-premises systems by collaborating with network, infrastructure, and Production Support teams .
β’ Drive PCI, vulnerability management, and remediation efforts by coordinating with developers, security teams, and infrastructure teams.
β’ Execute and coordinate production releases, including release processes, validating deployments, managing cutovers, and ensuring smooth release execution.
β’ Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and Production Support teams to resolve platform issues, plan migrations, and maintain system health.
β’ Develop a deep understanding of the portalβs architecture, microservices, microfrontends, and integration points to support operational and engineering decisions.
β’ Make code changes when needed to support infrastructure or compliance initiatives, including remediation work and configuration updates.
β’ Support cloud migrations, deprecations, and modernization efforts across AWS and on-prem workloads.
β’ Ensure observability, logging and monitoring are in place and help drive improvements to system reliability.
β’ Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
β’ Strong understanding of AWS services, cloud architecture and, on-prem infrastructure concepts.
β’ Experience with Angular, Ionic, Spring Boot, REST services, and micro services; ability to read, debug, and contribute to code.
β’ Familiarity with deployment workflows and release processes; ability to support production releases even though CI/CD pipelines are managed by separate teams.
β’ Knowledge of PCI, vulnerability management, patching, and secure development practices.
β’ Experience supporting production environments, troubleshooting issues, and handling infrastructure tasks such as certificate renewals and upgrades.
β’ Ability to work across engineering, Production Support, network, and infrastructure teams to drive shared outcomes.
β’ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across distributed systems.
β’ Codes programs that interface with multiple applications.
β’ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document processes, explain technical issues to non-experts, and coordinate effectively across multiple technical teams
β’ Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelorβs degree from a four year college or university in a related area.
Experience: 5+ years of professional programming experience in software development, platforms engineering, or a related technical role
