Contract Senior Platform Engineer DV Clearance is essential Southwest U.K HQ 4-5 days a week onsite Up to £96 p/h Inside IR35 We are looking for a DV cleared Platform Engineer to support an ongoing platform project that will directly support the Defence and Public Sector industries. The role itself can be offered on a 3-4 day working week basis, this can be done by completing the weekly hours within 3-4 days per week. What you will do • Lead the design, build, and support of secure platform solutions across on-premise and hybrid environments • Take ownership of engineering delivery for one or more work packages, including planning, estimation, execution, and reporting • Develop and review system architectures, low-level designs, and technical documentation • Integrate and test platform components, ensuring security, resilience, and performance requirements are met • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to Platform Engineers and Technicians • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to ensure solutions meet requirements • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering standards and best practices Core experience (essential): • DV Cleared (Essential) • Windows and Linux operating systems • Virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) • VMware Cloud Foundation (vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, Aria Suite) • Design, build, and operation of software-defined datacentre platforms • Network virtualisation and micro-segmentation (NSX or equivalent) • Core networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls) • Automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform) • Systems engineering lifecycle delivery • Integration of compute, storage, and network into unified platforms • Working within secure, regulated, or enterprise-scale environments • Understanding of cyber security controls and accreditation requirements • Cloud platforms (AWS) and Infrastructure as Code practices • Container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)
