PL/SQL Engineer

Job Title: PLSQL Engineer (Oracle + Embedded AI) Location: Charlotte, NC or Jersey City, NJ Rate: $65-$68/hour W2 Overview We are seeking a highly experienced SQL / PLSQL Engineer to support the integration of structured Oracle data into AI-driven applications. This role focuses on building performant database logic and enabling secure, scalable access for AI agents and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows, leveraging Oracle’s embedded AI and embedding capabilities. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, PLSQL procedures, functions, packages, and views. • Integrate Oracle-hosted AI/embedding features into database workflows. • Partner with AI/ML and Data Engineering teams to expose structured data safely to LLM-driven agents. • Build reusable patterns for structured data retrieval in AI and RAG pipelines. • Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, and query tuning. • Develop monitoring, alerting, and testing strategies for database-backed AI solutions. • Support API or microservice layers that encapsulate complex SQL logic when required. • Enforce data security, governance, and least-privilege access for AI integrations. Required Qualifications • 10+ years of hands-on SQL experience with advanced PLSQL expertise. • Strong experience with Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c, or later). • Proven background in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization. • Experience building and maintaining production-grade stored procedures, functions, and packages. • Experience integrating database systems with application layers or automation pipelines. • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions and tradeoffs. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Oracle embedded AI or embedding models. • Exposure to LLM/AI integrations, especially structured data access for agents. • Familiarity with RAG architectures and vector embedding concepts. • Knowledge of database security, masking, and governance in AI contexts. • Scripting experience (e.g., Python) for orchestration or ETL workflows. • Experience with cloud database platforms (OCI, AWS RDS, Azure) and Infrastructure as Code.
