Role description
Job Title: Postgres Developer
Location: Irvine, CA (From Day 1 onsite)
Job Type: Long-term contract
Project description
We're looking for a Data Engineer (not a data scientist or analyst) with deep expertise in modern PostgreSQL database schema design and performance tuning.
We've already taken care of most of the low-hanging fruit (dashboards, reviewing query plans, and db index / materialized view tuning), as well as having a mature ETL process that runs on Airflow.
So while there will be opportunities to improve those systems, the real value--add will come from someone who really knows the nuts and bolts of high-performance data engineering and schema design.
In that role, they'd work to potentially redesign (not just tune) big parts of our schema and data model.
Responsibilities:
Providing analytical, operational, and strategic support to the client
Analyze the client's business needs and provide recommendations
Map the business requirements to the application
Design of application database: structure, content, and processes of data population;
Validate the solution with the end users.
Design the reports and extraction: SQL statement, layout formatting, and report publication;
Apply corresponding methodology and tools, the elaboration and implementation of consistent work plans, project and program documents, and achievement of results;
Ensure proper reporting on the implementation and achievement of outputs, and contribute to reporting on progress towards outcomes and impact.
Must have Skills
Functional knowledge:
Basic knowledge of financial products;
Previous experience (as a plus) on capital markets (either Front, Middle, or Back office experience) as an analyst or technical support team.
Technical knowledge:
PostgreSQL expert
Python skills desirable
Experience with ETL tools;
AWS experience
