Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator to oversee the organisation, maintenance, and optimisation of our company's database systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and secure management of our data infrastructure. Duties
Manage and maintain databases including MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring their stability, security, and high availability.
Design and implement efficient database structures tailored to organisational needs.
Perform performance tuning and optimisation to enhance database responsiveness and throughput.
Develop and maintain scripts using Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting, and PL/SQL to automate routine tasks.
Configure and manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery procedures.
Monitor database health through performance metrics and troubleshoot issues proactively.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate databases with applications using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and other tools.
Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data against unauthorised access or breaches.
Document database configurations, procedures, and standards for compliance and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Proven experience in database administration across multiple platforms including MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, with a focus on high availability solutions.
Strong knowledge of database design principles and best practices.
Proficiency in SQL programming along with PL/SQL development skills.
Experience with Linux operating systems including command-line management and Bash scripting.
Familiarity with Shell Scripting for automation purposes.
Expertise in performance tuning techniques to optimise database operations.
Hands-on experience with SSIS for data integration tasks.
Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and implementation strategies.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional eager to utilise their technical expertise within a dynamic environment that values innovation and precision in data management.
