Power BI Analyst - BOSTON Only

Boston area only - please do not apply if outside of Boston area - hybrid role in office 3 days/week BCTG’s client is seeking a talented Data Visualization Specialist (Power BI Analyst) to join a 6-month project in the pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for data modeling and building and managing dashboards/visualizations. The position is a 6-month contract based in the Boston, MA area with expectations to be onsite at the client facility 3 days/week. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and visual appeal. • Create and optimize robust data models within Power BI, including defining relationships, hierarchies, and calculated measures using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions). • Connect to various data sources, extract, transform, and load data using Power Query Editor, ensuring data quality and readiness for analysis. • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that meet their analytical needs. • Optimize Power BI solutions for performance, scalability, and data refresh efficiency. • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI dashboards and reports, promoting self-service analytics where appropriate. • Adhere to data visualization best practices, ensure consistency in reporting, and contribute to data governance standards within Power BI. • Identify and resolve issues related to data, reports, and dashboards, ensuring continuous availability and accuracy. Required Skills and Qualifications • Extensive experience in Power BI Desktop and Service, including dashboard and report creation, data modeling, DAX, and Power Query. • Understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes. • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis. • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and translate business requirements into effective visualization solutions. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders and present insights clearly. Desired Qualifications (Optional) • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense). • Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis. • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and related data services. • Any experience working with the SAP HANA database is a plus.
