BCTGβs client is seeking a talented Data Visualization Specialist (Power BI Analyst) to join a 6-month project in the pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for data modeling and building and managing dashboards/visualizations. The position is a 6-month contract based in the Boston, MA area with expectations to be onsite at the client facility 3 days/week.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and visual appeal.
β’ Create and optimize robust data models within Power BI, including defining relationships, hierarchies, and calculated measures using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
β’ Connect to various data sources, extract, transform, and load data using Power Query Editor, ensuring data quality and readiness for analysis.
β’ Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that meet their analytical needs.
β’ Optimize Power BI solutions for performance, scalability, and data refresh efficiency.
β’ Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI dashboards and reports, promoting self-service analytics where appropriate.
β’ Adhere to data visualization best practices, ensure consistency in reporting, and contribute to data governance standards within Power BI.
β’ Identify and resolve issues related to data, reports, and dashboards, ensuring continuous availability and accuracy.
Required Skills and Qualifications
β’ Extensive experience in Power BI Desktop and Service, including dashboard and report creation, data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
β’ Understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes.
β’ Strong SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
β’ Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and translate business requirements into effective visualization solutions.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders and present insights clearly.
Desired Qualifications (Optional)
β’ Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense).
β’ Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis.
β’ Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and related data services.
β’ Any experience working with the SAP HANA database is a plus.
