Business Intelligence (BI) Developer Location: West Sacramento, CA (Hybrid On-site) Job Summary: Seeking an experienced and highly skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our dynamic Technology Service Branch. This critical role will be an integral part of our Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse (BI&DW) Project team. You will leverage your in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in functional and technical design, development, and advanced tools across BI&DW, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Your expertise will be crucial in helping Client build superior data products, deliver faster insights, and contribute directly to our strategic digital transformation goals. This is a contract position with an initial term of up to 24 months, with an option to extend for up to an additional 24 months. Key Responsibilities: As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will be responsible for: • Collaborating with data architects, business analysts, ETL developers, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high-standard Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. This includes enterprise analytical reports, dashboards, data warehouses, data lakes, data marts, and ETL processes. • Integrating Generative AI capabilities with our BI&DW platform to automatically generate business insights and recommendations, driving faster decision-making. • Leveraging Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to provide predictive business insights, enabling Client to anticipate future trends and opportunities. • Translating user expectations into functional design documents and solutions based on business requirements, and driving these requirements through cross-functional collaborations. • Analyzing product performance, identifying key metrics, and building analytical reports and dashboards to meet business needs, supporting high-priority initiatives and fostering accountability. • Leading and conducting functional testing of Business Intelligence solutions, taking responsibility for product release certification prior to user acceptance. • Building and optimizing Structural Query Language (SQL) queries for large datasets, and modifying SQL elements like procedures, functions, and views with a solid understanding of database principles. • Performing ongoing monitoring and optimization of reports and analytical solutions. • Reviewing and providing revisions for key deliverables/documents, including conceptual/logical/physical data models, data dictionaries, and data ETL plans. • Communicating technical issues and risks in a timely manner to ensure smooth project progression. • Developing user documentation and various visual representations of data analysis, ensuring data consistency and accuracy. • Providing written weekly and/or monthly reports detailing technical findings impacting schedules, resources, and activities. • Participating in knowledge transfer to Client employees. Required Qualifications (Must-Haves): To be eligible for this role, you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications: • Generative AI Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on experience in using Generative AI to successfully deliver data analytics solutions. • Microsoft Power BI Expertise: At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing and developing data analytics and Business Intelligence dashboards with Microsoft (MS) Power BI. • SQL Proficiency: At least 5 years of experience creating and optimizing SQL queries, and modifying SQL elements such as procedures, functions, and views, demonstrating a solid understanding of database principles. • Data Warehouse Experience: At least 3 years of experience developing data solutions with Snowflake or Amazon Web Services (AWS) Redshift data warehouses. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves): Candidates demonstrating the following experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities will be highly preferred: • Agile Methodologies/SDLC: At least 5 years of experience with Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). • MS Power BI DAX: At least 5 years of experience with MS Power BI Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create queries, measures, and data models. • Industry Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a State agency, Financials, Investment portfolios, or other regulated industry. • Business Analytical Modeling: Demonstrated ability to use business knowledge and expertise to build analytical data models and reports that effectively serve business users. Work Environment & Expectations: • Hybrid Work Model: This position requires adherence to a hybrid work model, with the expectation to work 2-3 days per week on-site at Client Headquarters in West Sacramento, CA. • On-site Presence: All work is primarily performed on-site at the Client headquarters facility in West Sacramento, CA. Remote work or different work hours may be utilized at Client sole discretion based on business need and/or directive. • Work Schedule: Work must be performed during Client business hours.
