Overview:Seeking a Power BI Data Engineer / Data & System Analyst to support production forecasting applications and analytics within the Oil & Gas domain. This role combines data analysis, system support, and user engagementβrequiring strong skills in SQL, Power BI, Spotfire, and Oil & Gas data. The candidate will act as a power user of internal tools, ensuring data integrity, driving actionable insights, supporting end-users, and collaborating with developers and stakeholders to enhance system functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Visualization
Analyze unconventional oil & gas production data and generate actionable results.
Query, validate, and troubleshoot large datasets using SQL.
Develop and maintain dashboards/reports in Power BI and Spotfire for forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
Validate data against operational and engineering logic; provide feedback to users and stakeholders.
System Analysis & Support
Serve as a power user/SME for custom internal tools and applications.
Provide end-user support, training, and best practices guidance.
Translate business needs into functional requirements; partner with product owners and developers.
Document use cases, workflows, test cases, and support guides.
Triage and resolve user issues or escalate as needed.
Requirements & Continuous Improvement
Gather, analyze, and document requirements for forecasting, scheduling, and budgeting systems.
Contribute to solution design, ensuring alignment with system standards.
Monitor system performance and user feedback; recommend enhancements.
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years in data analysis, business analysis, or systems support roles.
Strong experience with SQL/PLSQL, SSMS, and querying tools.
Proficient in Power BI and Spotfire.
Experience in unconventional oil & gas operations (mandatory).
Knowledge of oil & gas data types (stream types, production volumes, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Experience as a power user or supporting custom enterprise software.
Background in oil & gas budgeting, scheduling, accounting, production operations.
Strong documentation and training skills; ability to bridge business and technical teams.
Other Requirements:
Onsite presence (5 days/week) required.
Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to expand oil & gas domain knowledge.
