Role description
e&e is seeking a Power BI Developer for a hybrid contract opportunity in Harrisburg, PA! The Power BI Developer will play a key role in supporting a large-scale Data Modernization Initiative, enabling public health decision-making through advanced data analytics and reporting. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and administering Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models to support centralized reporting and analytical needs. The role will contribute to the modernization of enterprise data warehouse (EDW) operations, integrating advanced cloud-based solutions such as Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and Synapse, while ensuring data accessibility, quality, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in data analysis, SQL, and Power BI, combined with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights. Responsibilities: β€’ Design, develop, test, publish, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data products. β€’ Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, developers, and DBAs to deliver high-quality solutions that meet program and organizational needs. β€’ Develop report specifications, including purpose, attributes, owners, runtime parameters, and graphic representations of complex business processes. β€’ Perform data profiling, cleansing, modeling, and analysis to support data quality and reliability. β€’ Translate business and functional requirements into optimized data models and flows. β€’ Provide statistical and analytical reporting support using Power BI, SQL, Excel, and SAS. β€’ Participate in requirements gathering, testing, and validation of implemented solutions. β€’ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational data standards, procedures, and frameworks. β€’ Present solutions, dashboards, and analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. β€’ Contribute to modernization projects, including onboarding new systems into the EDW. β€’ Complete weekly status reports and documentation in project management systems (e.g., SharePoint, VectorVMS, Daptiv). β€’ Work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments using Azure DevOps tools for collaboration. Requirements: β€’ Advanced expertise with Microsoft Power BI, including DAX and data visualization best practices. β€’ Strong proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, scripts, and complex queries. β€’ Demonstrated experience with data warehousing, relational databases, star schema, facts, and dimensions. β€’ Hands-on experience with statistical/analytical tools such as SAS and Microsoft Excel. β€’ Experience with data mining architectures, modeling standards, and reporting methodologies. β€’ Proven ability to analyze business requirements and design scalable reporting solutions. β€’ Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments using Azure DevOps. β€’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to varied audiences. β€’ Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; advanced study preferred. β€’ Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, reporting, and Power BI development. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Experience working with healthcare or public health data sets. β€’ Familiarity with Azure-based data platforms including Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, and Delta Lake. β€’ Experience with enterprise data warehouse modernization projects.
