Role description
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with strong expertise in Databricks and modern data modeling practices to support analytics and reporting initiatives. This role will focus on building scalable semantic models, robust dashboards, and enterprise-grade data models in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports for business and operational insights
• Build and maintain semantic models (Power BI datasets / tabular models)
• Develop data models using Kimball methodology (star schema, fact/dimension design)
• Integrate data from Databricks (Delta Lake / Lakehouse architecture) into Power BI
• Optimize data performance, query efficiency, and report scalability
• Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into analytics solutions
• Ensure data quality, governance, and consistency across reporting layers
• Work in agile, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
Required Skills & Experience
• 7–8 years of experience in Power BI development
• Strong expertise in:
• Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling)
• Semantic modeling / Tabular models
• Kimball dimensional modeling techniques
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta tables, Lakehouse concepts)
• Strong SQL skills and data transformation experience
• Experience building enterprise-grade dashboards and datasets
• Ability to handle large datasets and performance tuning
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
• Experience in utility, energy, or renewable power companies
• Exposure to SCADA, meter data, or energy settlement systems
• Familiarity with Azure ecosystem (ADLS, Synapse, ADF)
• Understanding of data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
Soft Skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work independently in a contracting / delivery-focused role
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
