Role description
Power BI Developer / Data Analytics Engineer
Location: Hybrid – Charlotte, NC (2–3 days onsite preferred)
Employment Type: Contract or Contract-to-Hire (based on long-term business needs)
Compensation: $60 to $75 Hourly W-2 (Independent Contractor rates available up request)
Overview
Robert Half is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer / Data Analytics Engineer to support a growing enterprise data and analytics initiative. This is a newly created opportunity driven by increased investment in modern reporting, analytics, and cloud-based data infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Azure technologies, with experience building scalable reporting solutions and integrating data across multiple enterprise systems. This role will play a key part in enabling real-time business insights, improving operational visibility, and supporting future AI and advanced analytics initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
• Build scalable analytics capabilities across a modern Microsoft/Azure environment
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, data models, and reporting datasets
• Integrate data from multiple platforms and APIs to support enterprise-wide reporting
• Support real-time data accessibility and operational analytics initiatives
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to identify reporting and analytics needs
• Assist in the development of job costing, profitability, operational, and margin reporting
• Work with large and complex datasets across cloud and legacy systems
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in data architecture and analytics strategy
Required Qualifications
• Advanced hands-on experience with Power BI development
• Strong SQL skills including complex querying and data modeling
• Experience working within Microsoft technology environments
• Hands-on experience with Azure-based solutions
• ETL development and data integration experience
• Strong proficiency with DAX
• Experience integrating data through APIs
• Ability to analyze and work with large-scale datasets
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Azure Data Factory
• Familiarity with Data Lake architecture
• Exposure to Oracle-based environments or legacy systems
• Experience supporting financial or operational analytics initiatives
• Knowledge of job costing, margin analysis, or operational reporting
• Experience integrating with ERP platforms such as NetSuite
• Exposure to AI, predictive analytics, or advanced reporting initiatives
Technical Environment
• Microsoft Azure cloud environment
• Azure Data Factory and Data Lake technologies
• Modern ERP and CRM platforms
• API-driven integrations and real-time data pipelines
• Enterprise reporting and analytics ecosystem
