Role description
Power BI Developer – Contract (3 Months) Location: Cambridge (On-site 3–4 days per week) Contract Type: Day-rate Contractor Start Date: ASAP Duration: Initial 3 months (with potential to extend) Overview We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to support a short-term increase in demand for reporting across the business. This contract will focus on building and iterating Power BI reports for internal stakeholders, primarily around project and programme reporting. This is a hands-on delivery role requiring strong Power BI capability, good stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports β€’ Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather requirements β€’ Deliver iterative reporting solutions, incorporating regular feedback β€’ Support reporting focused on project progress, delivery, and status β€’ Ensure dashboards are easy to understand, supportable, and fit for purpose β€’ Work predominantly on-site to enable effective collaboration Required Skills & Experience β€’ Proven experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI β€’ Comfortable working primarily via the Power BI GUI, keeping solutions simple and supportable β€’ Experience gathering requirements directly from stakeholders β€’ Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach β€’ Ability to balance confidence with pragmatism β€” knowing when to check in and validate assumptions Nice to Have β€’ Experience delivering project or programme reporting β€’ Understanding of common project reporting metrics and concepts β€’ Background working in internal-facing reporting environments Working Arrangements β€’ Based in Cambridge β€’ 4 days on-site initially, potentially reducing to 3 days per week β€’ On-site presence is important for requirement gathering and collaboration β€’ Office is close to the train station with bookable on-site parking available About You You’ll be someone who: β€’ Is easy to work with and fits comfortably into an existing team β€’ Is confident enough to take ownership but collaborative enough to sense-check β€’ Delivers clean, understandable solutions rather than overly complex ones
