Power BI Developer

Job Title: Power BI Developer Job Location: Tallahassee, FL (Onsite) Job Type: Contract (Thru 6/30/27) Position Overview Seeking an Advanced Applications Development Analyst with strong Business Intelligence and Power BI expertise to help modernize and transform a large portfolio of financial reporting assets into actionable dashboards and decision-support analytics. This role will focus on assessing the current reporting/data environment, creating an enterprise reporting roadmap, building and administering Power BI reporting solutions, and partnering with technical and business stakeholders to automate and improve data transformation and reporting processes. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with IBM DB2, strong in SQL, and experienced producing financial dashboards (e.g., general ledger, purchasing, revenue). Responsibilities (Primary Duties) • Assess existing data environments and data structures to determine required transformations prior to dashboard development. • Partner with leadership to define and maintain an overall reporting roadmap and dashboard strategy. • Review existing reports and collaborate with business users to improve reporting outputs based on current needs. • Work with developers and end users to automate data transformation, reducing reliance on manual Excel pivot-table analysis. • Read and document WebFOCUS / Mainframe FOCUS queries and convert logic into T-SQL queries. • Partner with database administrators to design and implement database views and stored procedures to support BI reporting. • Build Power BI dataflows and develop reusable datasets/semantic models where appropriate. • Analyze financial data and recommend improvements to underlying data models to strengthen reporting accuracy and usability. • Provide administration and governance for a dedicated Power BI workspace (access, structure, standards, etc.). • Train and support business users on consuming and using Power BI dashboards and reports. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in a technology- or finance-related field (work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis). • 3+ years of Business Intelligence experience. • 2+ years building dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI. • Hands-on experience with IBM DB2 databases. • Strong proficiency in SQL and building performant queries to support reporting needs. • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
